Neuro-affirming therapy for Autistic and ADHD adults and teens (16+)

Hi and welcome

I’m Sarah, a neuro-affirming integrative counsellor offering online and in-person therapy for Autistic and ADHD adults and young people aged 16+ in the UK.

I work with clients who have a diagnosis, are self-identifying, or exploring possible autism or ADHD - you don’t need a formal diagnosis to get support.

Who do I support

Late-diagnosed Autistic and ADHD adults navigating identity, self-understanding, relationships, masking, and the impact of finding out they are neurodivergent later in life.

ADHD adults looking for support with overwhelm, ADHD burnout, emotional regulation, self-esteem, burnout, or simply feeling “too much” or “not enough.”

Adults who are questioning whether they may be autistic or ADHD and are looking for a safe, non-judgemental space to explore this.

Parents of autistic and ADHD children who are looking for a supportive space where parenting challenges, emotional needs, and wellbeing are understood through a neuro-affirming approach.

Autistic and ADHD adults experiencing burnout, overwhelm, or autistic burnout who are feeling exhausted with trying to keep up with life’s demands.

I offer a calm, safe, and non-judgemental space for neurodivergent adults and teens where you can be yourself, talk through what you're struggling with, and find support and understanding.

Taking that first step into therapy can feel scary, but you don’t have to do it alone. Get in touch to see how I can support you.

About Me

Sarah Pearson
Integrative Counsellor MBACP

Hello, and welcome!

I’m Sarah, a trauma-informed integrative counsellor offering online sessions for adults and young people aged 16+.

I have experience of working with neurodivergent clients, including ADHD and Autistic people, and I offer a supportive, accepting and neuro-affirming space.

I value each individual's unique way of thinking and feeling.

I work from a strengths-based approach while acknowledging that navigating a world that isn't always designed for neurodivergence can feel challenging.

I have supported clients who are navigating a new diagnosis of Autism or ADHD or clients who are exploring whether they may be neurodivergent themselves. I have worked with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, parenting challenges including parenting neurodivergent children, relationship challenges and bereavement.

If you’re looking for a confidential, supportive, and empathetic space to explore what you're going through, I’m here to listen. My aim is to help you explore your challenges and find a way forward that works for you.

My Approach

I work in a neuro affirming way - this means that I don't see neurodivergence as something that needs to be fixed or changed, but instead offer an approach that is understanding and supportive of neurodivergence.

I aim to create an environment that feels safe, predictable and comfortable. This may mean adapting our way of working to suit you - this could look like not putting your camera on, moving around in sessions or dimming the lights.

I welcome clients to use fidgets to aid self regulation, and also movement in sessions is absolutely OK with me. There is no expectation to sit still and give eye contact - I encourage clients to follow what feels comfortable for them.

Neuro-affirming therapy isn't only about adjustments to the physical environment, but also about the way in which therapy is approached.  Many neurodivergent people may have experienced being told that the way they relate, communicate, or process emotions is “wrong.” I aim to offer a space that is accepting, and affirming of your lived experience.

As a qualified integrative counsellor, I draw from a range of theories and therapeutic approaches, adapting my approach to meet your unique needs.

This flexibility allows us to explore what works best for you, whether that’s understanding your emotions, identifying patterns in your life, or finding effective coping strategies.

I am gentle in my approach and will work at your pace - we can review and adapt our approach together to ensure that it continues to meet your needs.
